Saturday 29, Sunday April 30, 2006, Marcilly-sur-Eure’s Karate Kan with FSKO (France Shinkyokushin Karate Organisation) accomodated Shihan Howard Collins one of the pillars of karate kyokushin in Europe, and member of the World Technical Committee, in order to direct a training course and a passage of rank for the various clubs within the F.S.K.O.

And in spite of a required minimum level, nearly twenty-five people had made the voyage from several areas of France in order to follow the suggested courses.

Shihan Collins wanted to know the technical level of French karate practitioners and as of Saturday morning we knew already that the weekend was going to be rich in training.

The warm-ups and stretching gave us a measurement of what was awaiting us and the day was very enriching and proceeded under the vigilant eye and the advisory council of the Grand Master.

The translation carried out by Sensei Cyril Cortot made it possible for all to understand the teachings.
Shihan Collins was attentive and gave everyone some advice to improve their movements or positioning or to correct some small technical errors.
Untiringly he patiently went over his explanations and had taken great care to develop these techniques.
He made sure that this kind of teaching given by the French instructors representing the level of the various clubs was going to be coherent.

After a well deserved lunch pause, some small warm-up sparring and sequences of techniques decorated the beginning of the afternoon.

Then the remainder of the course was devoted to the katas.

After 30 minute pause, the passage of rank finally began.

The moment of truth arrived for each of the 13 trainees who presented themselves.
The ranks considered varied from 2nd kyu (brown belt) to 3rd dan. (black belt)
One hour of techniques and katas followed by 50 minutes of engagements were enough to decide results.
But those were going to be revealed only the following midday, with results from the course of Sunday morning devoted exclusively to the study of the higher katas.

The first 3 announced results were not encouraging for the trainees, since Shihan Collins did not validate their examination.

Then the turn came from Romain Lamouret who presented first Kyu (stage preceding the black belt).
A positive shaking of the head of the inspector and the applause started to resound. Romain could relax.

Then the turn came for Thomas Vity, youngest of the trainees which dreamed of a brown belt. His wish was realized, and again the applause resounded when Shihan Collins agreed. The dream became reality.

The height of the tension for the Marcillucians was Julien Lamouret, the brother of Romain. He presented for a black belt, rank which is an final asset and thus very important for a karate expert. Once again, the work had paid-off and Julien became Shodan and reached the supreme color of the martial arts.

Herve Chamboredon, who also presented himself for a black belt enriched his other ranks acquired in tai jitsu (3rd dan) and karate shotokan (1st dan). The level in Kyokushinkai was also recognized for him.

Bernard Nazaret, the principal instructor could be proud of his students. He which presented for one 3rd dan, did not tremble any more. The results were already with the height of what it had hoped for and of this why it had been given so much.
It is with a great relief for all the club that it is lived rewarded with its right value, when Shihan Collins allotted the title of Sensei to him.

Gilles Guerbaoui, instructor with the club, did not have a rank but were charmed to take part in the whole of the training course and to propose for the engagements at the time of the passage of rank.

Only president Olivier Vity, failed on his passage of rank 2nd kyu.
But the training course was a success, and its efforts, joints with those of Patricia and Franck Lamouret, had been rewarded.
The club, once again, proved that the instructors were with the height and that they followed the way dictated by the European authorities.

Large a thank you with German Pascal, President of the Federation who had allowed this training course Marcilly, like in Cyril Cortot, for his translation and the assistance brought and with the whole of the participants of all the clubs which were the happy or unhappy actors of this long weekend.
